emory

 

so we recently had some of our good friends over for dinner.  it just so happens that they have a little girl named emory.  she’s cute, fun, and just a few months shy of jackson.  he was smitten.  we have really been trying to teach him how to be a gentleman, and it certainly paid off.  he shared his beloved paper towels, gave up his bumbo, held her hand, and even hugged her goodnight.  we were quite impressed.  at the end of the night, i’m not sure who had a better time – the parents or the babies.  the pictures tell it all.

ikea

 

last week, we had the opportunity to visit the new ikea store in charlotte.  wow.  this place is unbelievable.  while we have been longtime fans of ikea, until now, we had only shopped online.  in fact, that was the main reason for our visit.  after ordering and receiving some new office furniture, i realized that i needed a different color.  naturally, it was the perfect excuse to pack up the family and take off.

 

while the size of this place is somewhat intimidating, jackson felt right at home.  inside the showroom, there is just about every type of furniture you can imagine.  oddly enough, jackson wasn’t too interested in the kid’s section.  in fact, he was most excited when we came to an area full of beds and mattresses.  now we realize this fascination with beds could be due to the fact that he spends many nights tucked in between us in our bed.  what can we say, he’s a stickler for comfort.

 

all in all, it was a very successful trip.  i exchanged the office furniture, kelly found some items of interest, and best of all, jackson did great.  believe it or not, we even ran into some family members that live in that area.  who would have thought?  you can see a few pics from our adventure by clicking on the images above.

new video – bumbo beat

if there is one thing that jackson gets honest, it’s his fascination with music.  he loves to hear my dad play guitar, he becomes intensely focused when the radio is on, and he has his own playlist on our ipod.  to say he is drawn to music would be an understatement.  his latest trick is keeping a beat with the tray of his bumbo.  maybe i’m just a proud parent, but i would say his rhythm is pretty good for an eight-month-old.  you can see him in action on our video page.

surprises

 

i am the type of guy that loves surprises.  in fact, kelly and i have been surprising one another for years now.  it’s one of the many things that makes our relationship so special.  we have a unique love story for every major event that has occurred in our lives together.  it may be something as small as a love note, or as big as a weekend getaway.  our first date, our engagement, our wedding, holidays, anniversaries, the birth of our son.  the list goes on and on, and i wouldn’t trade it for the world.  so, you can imagine my excitement when i walked in to the office yesterday and found a sweet little note that was left on my desk.  as you can see from the images above, my amazing wife snuck in and set all of this up for me to find.  it was an invitation to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, along with four little bags of candy.  absolutely priceless.

 

and while kelly and i have perfected the art of surprise, i think that jackson might have us beat.  although, his surprises tend to take on a different meaning.  like finding his toys in the strangest places.  or perhaps turning around to discover that he has somehow made his way into another room.  or, best of all, scooping out a little surprise he so effortlessly left in the bathtub.  yes, life with this family is truly full of surprises.  so, in the spirit of valentine’s, we thought we would give you several new photos to enjoy this weekend.  they’re all on our photo page.  are you surprised?

crawling

 

well, we’re in trouble now. jackson is officially crawling. we just thought he was mischievous before. now, we can’t even turn our back for one second. and it feels like it happened overnight. all of a sudden, he just started moving. and moving. and moving. now, crawling from one end of a room to the next is a piece of cake. oh, and don’t even think about holding him. now that he knows how to move, it’s all he wants to do. he will crawl until he wears himself out. then, after a quick breather, he is back at it again.

 

i’m sure you’re wondering why we don’t have a video yet. well, the little dude won’t slow down long enough for me to get some good footage. but don’t worry. we will have a crawling video for you very soon. in the meantime, if you think about it, say a little prayer for our safety. i have a feeling we’re going to need it.

january?

 

so january has come and gone, and i can barely remember it. time is absolutely flying by. and while we’ve been a little slack on our blog posts lately, i promise it’s not because there is nothing going on. believe me, with jackson, there is always something going on. but don’t worry, we will definitely be picking up the pace this month. in fact, there is already some great stuff waiting for you.
