walking

yes, it’s true. our little boy has now started walking.

for the past few weeks, he has been experimenting and getting a little braver with each passing day. it started with him walking while holding both hands. then, he began to feel comfortable holding just one hand. after that, he would let go as long as he could see the person he was walking toward.

but now, he has started taking some chances on his own. last night, i glanced into the living room only to find him walking from the couch to a chair all by himself with no guidance. scary, i know. but seeing the look of excitement on his face will absolutely melt your heart. he is so proud of himself, and it is often the heightened joy that causes him to stumble.

yet another milestone crossed, and it seems like the time is already starting to disappear. sometimes i wish i could just bottle all of this sweetness up and slow the days down. but with our wild man now walking, something tells me that things are far from slowing down.

birthday party

 

as you already know, we celebrated jackson’s very first birthday last week. months of planning and preparations went into his unique birthday party, and we were very happy with how everything turned out. what made it so special was the number of family and friends that shared the afternoon with us. it is no secret that jackson is loved by many, and it certainly showed within the crowd. oh, and gifts? let’s just say that it took several trips with multiple vehicles to get everything back to our home. we are still putting together new toys.

 

but i believe the best part of the day was, of course, jackson eating his birthday cake. i have never seen his eyes light up like they did the moment he tasted that icing. pure bliss written all over his face. and, as you can see from the pictures, that wasn’t the only thing all over his face. cake and icing were everywhere. in fact, i think he still has a little cake stashed away in his highchair.

 

it was a very exciting day for all of us, and just another milestone for which we are grateful. and to all of our friends and family, thank you so much for being a part of jackson’s life. he really is a lucky little one-year-old.

one year ago

one year ago today, jackson entered this world. without a doubt, it was one of the most special days in our lives. as we celebrate his first year, we can’t help but look back on that memorable day he was born. this is our official babymentary documenting his birth.
